Universities apply ‘secret email test’ to student applicants

"My special algorithm can tell the difference between genuine spam and bogus spam Yay! I've got a University place."

“My special algorithm can tell the difference between genuine spam and bogus spam Yay! I’ve got a University place.”

In a leaked memo, it’s been revealed that Universities are adding a new secret test to all student applications.

The Chancellor of a University he did not want to be named said: “While we happily accept all students regardless of race, sexual orientation or economic background, we cannot compromise on intellectual ability, common sense or technological savvy.

“Applicants, therefore, will receive a series of emails including straight-forward spam, some containing malicious links and phishing emails.

“Applicants must navigate the rocky internet waters of bogus emails to show they have not been fooled,

“This is as much for the safety and security of all students on campus as well as the University’s servers.”

We asked how students could tell the difference between University emails and ‘genuine’ spam.

“Well, that’s the whole point, isn’t it? If they can’t tell genuine spam from bogus spam, we need to ask ourselves if this is the sort of student we want at our University.

“And if we skim a few pounds from their bank account, that will boost our flagging coffers and teach them an important life lesson that you simply can’t put a monetary value on.”
