Billed as ‘perfect for every home’ the Robot MP or ROMPr has just gone on sale in the UK.

Developed by robotics company Practical Ingenious Stereoactive Systems, the robots are described as “versatile semi-intelligent and adaptable”. A company spokesperson said: “We know that doesn’t describe your average MP but ROMPrs are better than average.

“ROMPrs can carry out simple tasks well beyond the capabilities of an MP such as making a cup of tea, sweeping the floor and filling in expenses forms.

“They are programmed with a vast range of general knowledge and will take the other side of any argument. However, the default setting is to use spurious ‘facts’ and you can have a lot of fun catching them out in a lie.

“They are also rugged and can engage in rough and tumble games including wrestling and boxing.

“One of their best features is interchangeable heads so you can hone your boxing skills against your ‘favourite’ politician. This is proving a major selling point.

“We already have heads for major politicians including Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Jo Swinson, Nigel Farage – he’s proving very popular – Tom Watson, Michael Gove – another favourite – and many others.

“Some users are buying two or three models and pitting them in matches against each other. It’s almost as entertaining as watching a Commons debate.

“Of course the overriding feature of the ROMPr is that, unlike an MP, if you tell it to do something – it does it.”
